Could someone jewish explain to me what midos are and how and if they are taught in schools?

my understanding is that they are the positive and required aspects or a person and judaism, my specific question is in jewish schools and jewish education, is there any aspect of what i will call character shaping, by this i mean they will be taught what sort or character they should have and taught how they should behave and what they should do along this aspect
